Anton Hekkinen from Mura is ready for Skelleftea on a two-year contract

After SM’s recent loss against Växjö, Skellefteå has now made its first new acquisition for the upcoming season.

After breaking through to Mora, active striker Anton Hekkinen signed a two-year contract.

His speed, his shooting and his will to compete are what distinguish him most, says Sporting Director Eric Forssell.

After four final losses, three of them against Växjö, since 2015, Skellefteå is reloading to try and win another SM gold.

Their first new acquisition is Anton Heikkinen from Nässjö, the 22-year-old relieved after moving from Södertälje to Mora.

– I realized that this is the right path to take and a step in the right direction for my further development as a hockey player, – says Anton Heikkinen.

Previously, Skellefteå went out with the following eight players: Andreas Wingerli, Tom Kühnhackl, Linus Högberg, Albin Sundsvik, Melker Karlsson, Adam Mascherin, Alexander Hellnemo and Frans Tuohimaa.

Växjö finally became a ghost

Among them, Anton Hekkinen is similar to Andreas Wengerli in playing style and size, 175 cm compared to 173 cm.

At the same time, Andreas Wengerli was offered by Swiss Zug on a two-year contract, joining recent rival Lukas Bengtsson.

The two biggest losses are versatile defender Linus Højbjerg and deserved forward Tom Kuhneckel, both of whom were among the best Skelleftea players in the playoffs.

Second in the table Skellefteå lost the final against group winners Växjö with 4-1 in matches.

In their last four home matches against Växjö, Skellefteå has only scored one goal.
