Erik Walli Walterholm is ready

Modo made its first new acquisition before a rematch in the SHL.

Erik Walli Walterholm leaves local rival Timrå to play for the newcomer.

– I think he could play higher in the hierarchy, says sporting director Henrik “Heineken” Gradin.

Three days have passed since Modu won his seventh and decisive match against Djurgården in the Hockeysvenskan final.

Erik Walli Walterholm is then offered as Örnsköldsvik’s first new acquisition on a one-year contract.

The 24-year-old striker from Stockholm played for Timrå in Hockeyallsvenskan and stayed with the club for two SHL seasons.

– It will be very interesting to come to Modo. I will be doing hard work and helping to build MoDo in SHL. I had great years in Temera, but I felt it was time to change the environment. You had a good buzz with “Hinken” and now I’m really inspired to come over to Modo. I will continue what I started last season and become a more established player in the SHL, says Erik Walli Walterholm.

Reunite with the people of Stockholm

Erik Walli Walterholm previously played with Modo players Johan Södergran and August Berg during his youth in Stockholm.

In Temera he also played with Modo player Sebastian Olsson.

– I have followed him for many years and I think he had a hidden role in the past. I think he can play at the top of the pyramid, but what makes him unique is that he does the job at the bottom of the chain and he can play at a higher level. He is sharp, good pace and a good shot. “Hinken” says he can play a physical, hard-hitting game, but also has the skill to be a scorer.
