On reflection, Loui Eriksson, 37, wanted to do another season in Frölunda.
But the longtime NHL veteran has been snubbed by the club.
– I accept their decision and wish the team good luck – but for that I don’t have to respect the decision, he told Göteborgs-Posten.
After exiting the SHL semi-finals against Växjö, Louis Ericsson was disappointed when he wondered if his career had reached the end of the road.
It’s hard to let go, but maybe it’s time to move on. It costs you when you play hockey and you’re away a lot, he said at the time.
After that, however, he set his sights on a continuation. But this will not happen in Frolunda.
– It’s not my decision. I got the same answer as last year. I was so excited about another year — but they wanted to go another road again, Erickson tells the family doctor.

Eriksson returned to Frolunda last fall – despite being rejected by the club in pre-season. He ended up with 19 points in 34 regular season games and another seven points in 13 playoff games.
Looking at my performance, I’m very disappointed. I was very clear about what Frölunda means to me as a player. I gave 110 percent all this year, of course. I accept their decision and wish the team good luck – but for that I don’t have to respect the decision, he says.
It’s not about the salary
Erickson also told the newspaper that it was not about the salary and he did not want to give up his career either.
– Well, but Frölunda wanted to go another way. There is no other explanation, he says.
