After the final in 2021, threats were made against Björklöven players Daniel Rahimi and Alexander Hellström.

A former athletic director has been accused of posting threats on an online forum.

Now the man is being charged with illegal threats and a fine.

The offense was committed on April 19, 2021 after the final match between Bjorkloven and Timra. Both Björklöven players received a match penalty in the match after which several threatening posts were made on an online forum addressed to them and then Björklöven coach Hans Walson.

The former athletic director was behind the threatening posts. Among other things, the accused wrote:

“I say this in all seriousness, Hellstrom, Rahimi and Wilson should be glad I’m not there watching the match. I know how to beat the Russian mafia and other Patrasques, such a willingness to invite some solution minded people for a home visit.”

Judgment against his denial

In the suit, the former athletic director was charged with two counts of unlawful threats. The man himself admitted that he wrote the posts but denied any crime.

However, this was the opinion of the district court, which is now judging the former sports leader for illegal threats. He is now obliged to pay 70 daily fines of SEK 80 (totalling SEK 5,600). In addition, the man was ordered to pay compensation of 5,000 SEK to Daniel Rahimi and Hans Walson, as well as fees to the Crime Victims Fund of 800 SEK, Västerbottens Kureren writes. Alexander Hellstrom claimed no damages.

In an SMS to Västerbottens-Kuriren, Daniel Rahimi commented on the ruling:

“First of all, I wish I didn’t have to experience this or the attention it brought. But the fact that there was conviction shows that hate and threats against athletes are not quite as acceptable as they are in society. The climate on social media has limits too, and I hope this prompts judgment. People have to think twice when writing something or addressing it to someone else.writes the 36-year-old backwards.
