Filip Sandberg is staying in Skellefteå for another season

Philip Sandberg came to Skellefteå last year and has scored 27 points in 52 regular season games this year.

It is now clear that the striker is extending another season with the Swedish vice-champions.

– I think I can develop more at the club, he says in a press release.

Sandberg, who turns 29 this summer, came to Skellefteå at the end of last season from Finnish TPS and made rapid steps into the team right away.

Achieve a personal best

During this year’s season, the forward continued to set a new personal best in terms of points in the SHL, when in the regular season he scored 11 goals and 16 assists.

In the playoffs, his score was seven points in 17 games as Skellefteå reached the final, where they fell against Växjö.

Before the next season, Stockholmer thirsts for revenge.

– It will be really fun! Personally, I think I have found a new level in my game and then of course it is fun to play with a team that has a chance of winning. I’m hungry for revenge for last season,” he said in a press release.

Season extends

The new contract he signed extends to the next season.

– It feels great to be stretching out with Phillip. He was an important player for us last year. He was involved in all forms of play, contributing around the pitch and also in the dressing room, and in training he helped lead the team. Skellefteå general manager Erik Forsell says it will be exciting to have him with us next season too.
