Germany wins the Hockey World Cup – after mistakes: ‘invitational’

Germany’s crisis team was in bad shape.

Then Denmark’s goalkeeper Frederic Deschaux made a goal.

– There shouldn’t be a mistake like this in a match like this, says SVT expert Jonas Andersson.

After three consecutive defeats in the World Cup, Germany achieved its first victory in the World Hockey World Cup, over Denmark on Thursday night.

But it started to get tough with the Danes leading 1-0 after the first period. In the second, Germany came to life, and nine minutes later, Buffalo’s John Jason Peterka equalized.

Two minutes later it’s time again.

Frölunda player error

Defender Moritz Müller lifted the puck from his own half into the Denmark goal. Frederic Deschaux, who plays every day in Frölunda, did not catch the puck, and on the return Alexander Ill kept the lead and completed the transformation.

SVT expert Jonas Andersson was unfazed by the goalkeeper’s tackle.

There shouldn’t be a mistake like this in a match like this. Invitation, and Germany leads fairly, he says in SVT and continues:

It can be hard to get, but Dichow has to get it.

Dramatic ending

With five minutes left in the match, Denmark tied the game at 3-3. But the Germans rallied again, and 20 seconds later they regained the lead through Jonas Müller.

The match ended 6-4. With this victory, Germany left the jumbo position in Sweden’s group. Denmark remains in third place, three points behind Sweden in second place.
