It was very quiet around Leksand after they were knocked out in the last 16 against Rögle.
The only new acquisition introduced previously is Kristianstad’s Philip Larsson, who will be the number two goalkeeper behind Mantas Armalis.
Now, Dala has also finished with 32-year-old full-back Eddie Larsson, who recently came from IFK Helsingfors.
Eddie Larsson signed a two-year contract and became the seventh defender in Leksand’s squad.
The Maristad-raised player previously played for Linkoping, Väcköping, Luleå and Modu in the Swedish top league, and in 2015 became Swedish champions with Väckö.
– Leksand seems to be really on the move and I think the performance was better than what the table position showed, so I hope we can take more steps as a team this year. I want to contribute to a stable defensive game and deliver the puck in a good way to the attackers,” says Eddie Larson.
“wonderful personality”
There is still another rear hatch to fill in the Lexand lineup.
– We were looking for a stable, experienced and defence-oriented defender to make us more solid. Over the years, Eddie Larson has always put defense first and also has a lot of experience from playing in the SHL. He is also a great character. His behavior on and off the ice influences his teammates and will add a lot to our squad, says Athletic Director Thomas “Tjomme” Johansson.
New chalet in the kiosk
On the front side, there are 13 players under contract, including Max Veronneau who is back in his deal after trying to join the San Jose Sharks but there are question marks over his injury status.
Those leaving Leksand are Mikael Ruhoma, Lianne Pichl, Casimir Kaskiso, Tobias Ekberg and Jesper Kandergaard.
Shale Berglund replaced Bar-Steve as assistant coach, and head coach Bjorn Hellqvist and assistant coach Mikael Karlqvist remained in the booth.
