Färjestad signs goalkeeper Max Lagacé from the AHL • SHL

Färjestad strengthens the goalkeeper position.

Canadian Max Lagacé joins from the AHL.

“We are delighted to now have Max as one of our goalkeepers,” says Ricard Wallen.

He has been busy at Färjestad’s goalkeeper position during the spring.

Former top seed Matt Tomkins departed, and promising Karl Lindbom was brought in from Djurgården.

FC Karlstad also signed NHL veteran Jonas Johansson ahead of the new season – but he broke the contract after just a month.

But now they’re done with their second guard.

The club can confirm that 30-year-old Canadian Max Lagasse is joining the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL.

I played in the NHL

– Max is the same profile we’ve been looking for all along. A guy who’s been around a little longer, as a slightly more experienced goalkeeper as a teammate of Karl. Max has just been out of the NHL for a number of seasons and has had a few starts in the league. So the quality is clearly there, says sporting director Rijkaard Wallen to the club’s website.

Färjestad became Legacé’s first club in Europe. He previously played only in North America and then primarily in the AHL. But he also has twenty NHL games on his resume, representing the Vegas Golden Knights, Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning.

— but given how private the situation is, it seems like he landed pretty naturally, and in a good way. Some things happen for a reason, whether in life or in team building, and lead to one another having something left. I think Carl and Max feel like a well-made tandem, Wallen says.
