Nick Kyrgios suffered from suicidal thoughts during the 2019 Wimbledon Championships.
He tells this in an upcoming episode of the Netflix documentary Breaking Point.

Nick Kyrgios is perhaps the most controversial tennis player in the world.
He is (not) known for his tantrums with broken rackets and angry comments to reporters.
In December 2021, he admitted assaulting his then-girlfriend, something he was acquitted of when the case went to court.
“I wasn’t in a good place mentally when it happened and I reacted to a difficult situation in a way that I feel very sorry. I know my act didn’t go right and I’m sincerely sorry for the pain I caused.”

This season, Netflix is following him in the “Break Point” documentary series.
And in the next episode, Kyrgios opens up about the ghosts of his own brain.
He remembers going back to Wimbledon 2019.
– Then I thought of killing myself, he says in the episode.
– I was lost, and when I woke up the next day, my father was sitting by the bed and crying straight. It was an awakening for me. I felt like I couldn’t go on like I was doing. I ended up in a psychiatric ward there in London to deal with my problems.
Conceal scars
“I drank too much, took drugs, and lost touch with my family and close friends,” he says, telling me how he developed self-harming behavior and started cutting himself.
– I felt really bad. My entire arm was full of scars. This is why I started playing long sleeves.
In February 2022, Kyrgios posted on Instagram announcing that he was feeling better now.
“I am proud when I say I took over my life. Now I have a completely different view of everything, and I don’t take anything for granted.”
The Australian suffered a knee injury at the start of the year but returned on Tuesday. However, there was a loss to the Chinese Wu Yiping in Stuttgart.
