Henrik Lundqvist after place in the Hockey Hall of Fame: “Very honorable and interesting”

New York. He is a proud and happy Swedish goalkeeper star who takes his place in the Hockey Hall of Fame Glorious.

– It feels very honorable, interesting and special. Henrik Lundqvist says when we get to him at our home in Gothenburg, especially considering who he’s been elected to over the years.

There are few who have received as much praise and awards as Henrik Lundqvist. Midway through his career, for example, he won the Vezina Trophy—the annual award for the best goaltender in the NHL—and this past January had his jersey raised to the ceiling in a glamorous ceremony at Madison Square Garden.

But he certainly didn’t have time to become a Blass, and that became evident when we met him shortly after his election to the Hockey Hall of Fame was announced during the summer break that just started at home in Gothenburg. He is clearly happy and proud.

– Yes, in this way, after your career, you think more and think about what you went through, which is why such awards are now becoming more important. When you’re playing in the middle of it, you don’t have time to think about it, he says and continues:

– This is a very honorable, pleasant and special feeling. Especially considering who has been recruited over the years. There are a lot of people I look up to, not least the Swedes but also others. To now be part of that company… Well, it’s such an honor.

“Beautiful moment”

Henrik – as only the third European goalkeeper after Vladislav Tretjak and Dominik Hasek – will be officially selected at a ceremony in Toronto in November, after which a long speech will be given.

– Well, will it be long? Lucky that I have some time on my hands and then laugh.

Joking aside, it will be another nice moment to live with family and close friends. Like the party in the park last year. I am so grateful to be a part of these moments.

“It was a very good year.”

Henk and his family have been living in Gothenburg since the weekend, and there he will now recuperate for the rest of the summer. That might be necessary, because he’s a very energetic “retired” and has been sitting and twisting his thumb completely for zero days in the past year. During the just concluded Stanley Cup playoffs, he made it to the TNT expert panel, with Wayne Gretzky among others, and after the recent final in Las Vegas, he returned to New York for the premiere of “Open Heart” – the personal documentary about life after surgery Major heart in January 2021.

– It was a very good year, I think. Rewarding, fun and interesting. But yeah, now it would be great to hang out with family and friends back home in Sweden, the newly announced Hall of Fame foodie announced.
