Kyle Davidson blows the reporter off — and he applauded after the interview

His name is Kyle and he’s from Chicago.

This is the extent of the reporter’s involvement.

The fact that he is the general manager of the city’s NHL team goes unnoticed …

On Thursday night, Swedish time, this year’s NHL Draft kicks off in Nashville.

The Chicago Blackhawks are out first and it’s no secret that club general manager Kyle Davidson will pick prodigy Conor Bedard.

– I’m dumb. This could change our entire organization, he said after the lottery project.

The reporter was clueless

The 34-year-old Kyle was even more secretive when he met a local reporter who took the pulse of Nashville ahead of the day’s big event.

– My name is Kyle and I’m from Chicago, he replied politely.

He was then asked if he had been to Nashville before and the following exchange followed:

Several times, yes.

For the Blackhawks?

– Yes.

On a scale of one to ten, how much do you think you know about hockey?

– Hmm. I didn’t play professionally or anything. maybe four. I’m a sports fanatic, but some say I can’t do much…

“Forged? no!”

Kyle is then asked to name as many hockey players as possible within 20 seconds. A task he – unsurprisingly – solves with flying colours.

The reporter ended the interview by asking Davidson if he thought the league had “rigged” the draft in favor of Chicago.

– no.

Are you absolutely sure of that?

“I’m pretty sure,” says Kyle, smiling at the camera.

The interview was shared widely on social media, and Kyle Davidson – who has been with the club since 2010 and took over as general manager in October 2021 – has been praised for his efforts.
