Skellefteå finished early with strong striker Anton Häkkinen from Mora.

During the Monday, it was also complemented by center Oscar Lindbergh of Berne.

Skellefteå now introduces 26-year-old striker Martins Dzierkals, who recently came from the Czech League.

– I’ve heard the team plays hockey with a lot of speed, a lot of checking and a lot of puck play, which is in line with who I am as a player. I think I will fit in well with the team, says Martins-Dziercals, and I hope we can achieve great things together during the season.

Hockey fever in Latvia is crazy about hockey

He is one of the national champions who won the bronze medal with Latvia in May.

Latvia won their quarter-final against Tre Kronor in front of a hysterical home crowd in Riga.

Latvia then took a 2-1 lead in the third game in the semi-final against Canada and won the bronze medal against the United States 4-3 after extra time.

Last season had it all and then some. It was a long season that ended with bronze in the WC, which was a big step forward for Latvian hockey, says Martins Dzirkals.

Waiting around Lindström

In this season, Skellefteå mainly lost Andreas Wengerli, Tom Konenkel, Linus Højbjerg and Albin Sundsvik.
