The day before the opening home match against Linköping, Modo strengthens the team.

29-year-old right-handed shooting forward Danny O’Regan is the closer for the Grand Rapis Griffins in the AHL.

Sporting director Henrik Graden worked all summer to strengthen the forward line.

Danny O’Regan is expected to take a place in Group A with center Mikael Ruhoma and left-forward Sambo Raanta.

Theodor Niederbach, who ranked first in the team’s build-up, is likely to be transferred.

The American from Massachusetts has four seasons and 30 games in the NHL with the San Jose Sharks, Buffalo Sabres and Anaheim Ducks.

In seven seasons in the AHL, there were 320 points (121 goals, 199 assists) in 428 games.

– He is a skilled player and has a very good sense of the game. He can pass and finish. A player with offensive skills. He played a lot as a midfielder, but he was also a wing forward. The plan is for him to play abroad, but you can never have too many positions, says Henrik Graden.

Landing at Ö-vik next week

The contract is written during the season, which begins and arrives in Örnsköldsvik on Tuesday.

– We will see when he will play his first match, but it will likely be next Saturday when we face Malmo away from home, says Henrik Graden.

Newcomer Modo lost their SHL premiere away to last season’s finalists Skellefteå 2–1 after a penalty shootout.

Since then, the team has been out for a week and will play their opening match at home to Linköping on Thursday night.
