Liam Öhgren leaves Färjestad to go to the Minnesota Wild in the NHL

Liam Öhgren missed the start of the season with Färjestad due to a mystery injury.

Now the 19-year-old power forward has left the club to go to the Minnesota Wild.

– He is their player and they want to check on him, says Matthias Hill in the medical team.

Big-time talent Liam Öhgren signed a contract with the NHL’s Minnesota Wild last summer.

Last season he was loaned out to FC Djurgården in the Hockey League, and this season he was loaned out to Farestad in the SHL.

After impressing in the preseason, Liam Öhgren missed the first four SHL games and before that the four CHL games with a difficult-to-diagnose injury.

– The Minnesota Wild want a “second opinion,” which isn’t surprising since he’s their player. We are always in contact with the player’s NHL club on similar matters. So, he is now scheduled to be there for this week, but it could be longer. That’s what decides them, says Matthias Hill.

“No match in the near future.”

There are no hopes of Liam Ogren coming to play in the near future.

– As it seems now, it is unlikely that there will be games in the near future. It may take some time. “There is patient privacy that we protect,” says Matthias Hill.

Farestad is also suffering from a long-term injury to Mikael Wikstrand, while Henrik Bjorklund missed both matches last week due to injury.

Liam Öhgren was also considered one of the key players in the junior crowns ahead of the JVM at home in Gothenburg.
