Calgary Flames’ Chris Snow suffered cardiac arrest following amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

The NHL president is not expected to wake up again

Chris Snow suffered a cardiac arrest following amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

The Calgary Flames assistant general manager is not expected to wake up again.

“Continuing life without him seems unsustainable,” wife Kelsey Snow wrote.

Chris Snow suffered from the nerve and muscle disease ALS at the end of 2019.

The 42-year-old and his family have been open about their battle against the deadly disease.

Wife Kelsey Snow now writes on social media that the condition has seriously deteriorated.

“It is with a broken heart that I must announce that Chris lost consciousness and went into cardiac arrest. Paramedics and doctors were able to restart his heart, but tragically, a scan revealed that he had suffered a catastrophic brain injury due to lack of oxygen,” Kelsey Snow wrote on social media.

“Broken and hollow”

She continues to talk openly about the tragedy and feelings.

“Doctors don’t expect him to wake up from this. My chest feels broken and hollow. Chris is the sweetest, most amazing person I’ve ever met. Hold yourselves close,” writes Kelsey Snow.

Chris Snow’s father, two uncles and a cousin also died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

He took the son with him

American Chris Snow came over from the Minnesota Wild in 2010 and continued to work out the Alberta Classic throughout the illness.

General manager and former big man Craig Conroy broke down and couldn’t hold back his tears during his meeting with the media.

“It’s not right that Snowy isn’t here next to me,” says Craig Conroy.

However, one of the couple’s two children, son Cohen, was with Craig Conroy at the press conference.

“Little Snowy” is here, and it means more than you can understand, says Craig Conroy.
