Hampus Falk misses training

The sports director had to bandage the wound

Break for AIK.

Full-back Hampus Falk cut one of his legs in training and will undergo surgery tomorrow.

– It looked like a small ax cut, he tells Sportbladet.

Hampus Falk missed AIK’s 6-0 win away to Nybro last night.

The 26-year-old defender was at home on the sofa with his right leg in a cast after suffering a cut during training.

– It was a fight where my teammate Oscar Nord fell and he happened to kick me with his heel and his cast hit me hard on the calf, says Falk when he calls me Sportbladet.

“He was vomiting and passing out.”

It was a fairly deep wound – like a small “axe cut” according to O-Viksonen himself – and there was a lot of blood.

-I kept it really tight but I knew it wasn’t great, I felt so bad. I almost vomited and fainted at the same time in the locker room.

He says the team’s sporting director, Niklas “Bagen” Persson, had to do everything he could to fix it before he was taken to the emergency room.

-It was a serious cut, so there was no point in waiting. It was just a matter of spraying and patching it, and I think he handled it well,” Falk says.

Followed from the couch

Surgery awaits tomorrow, and only then will doctors be able to determine how long he will be off the ice.

-We can talk to each other then. It can be bad or it can be calm.

During Wednesday evening, he would have been at least happy with AIK’s big win in Småland.

-I watched the match and it was nice that it looked very good. It was good that it came down to powerplay and we managed our game plan well. It is equally important that we also bounce back, if we continue that will be good.

AIK face Tingsryd at home in Hovet tomorrow. The team ranks seventh in the Allsvenskan hockey table.
