David Tomasik on his new contract at Farestad: ‘I can see me staying’

Orbridge. New acquisition David Tomasek has hit the ground running in the SHL.

The contract with Färjestad is written for one season and there are still no discussions or extensions.

– I can see myself staying here longer, says the 27-year-old center.

Jiri Inala at Frölunda and David Tomasek at Färjestad lead the scorers’ league with six goals each.

David Tomasik has scored in four straight games and is confident.

The right-handed Czech has managed to become a fan favorite.

Despite this, Farestad did not talk about any continuation of the contract for one year.

-It’s still really early, it’s only October. I try not to think about it. Things can change quickly. When there are discussions with Farestad or another club, we will see what is best for all parties. “Everything is great here now,” David Tomasik says.

Whether on or off the ice, he radiates that he enjoys life and his surroundings.

-I love this, I couldn’t be in a better club. Everything I heard about Farestad was true. I’m glad we found each other. Obviously it helps that we’re number one, if we were 10 it would be different. Now everything is sunny and beautiful. We just have to keep working hard, says David Tomasik.

“It was like a playoff game.”

Färjestad won the thrilling top-flight encounter against Örebro with a score of 2-1.

David Tomasik made it 1-0 with a pair of powerful skates and a backhand shot against the crossbar.

– I loved the match, it was great. It was like a playoff game in October. The atmosphere and energy was great. We wove and they wove. It couldn’t be better to get these three points now. “We have a lot to do, but this was really good,” says David Tomasik.

Färjestad showed patience and discipline in the defensive zone and waiting for situations to move forward.

– We were going to play a hockey match and that’s what we showed as well. We played a little easier sometimes. Everyone knows that we have players with technical skills who can play with the puck and control. Today we showed character, heart and wisdom in the three points and that is very important for the team. “It gives us confidence and pride,” says David Tomasik.

Got a special song from the fans

Since he was signed as the leading offensive line center, he couldn’t have gotten off to a better start.

-I’m happy because I can help the team score goals. That’s why they brought me here and it’s my job to create chances in attack. I couldn’t be happier than I am right now. David Tomasik says the league is different from all the other leagues in Europe, it is very difficult and requires a lot of skating.

Series mates Joakim Nygård and Michael “Linkan” Lindqvist have yet to receive a song from the heels.

David Tomasik, on the other hand, has managed to do just that in eight games in the SHL.

– I want to thank them for that. He is very nice and I try to invite him back as often as I can. I am grateful for the support. I love the fans, whether they are at home or they come to an away game like this. They’re amazing and loud, says David Tomasik.

Series leaders Färjestad now have five points to spare on table two Örebro.
