Rehards Marinis received a match penalty for shouting “For what? You’re a fucking idiot.”

Now the Nibro striker has been banned for two matches for “abuse of officials” and inappropriate behaviour.

“I said so to myself,” the 30-year-old Latvian striker says in his statement.

Nybro lost 5-0 at Södertälje on Sunday evening and Rehards Marinis conceded a penalty when trailing 2-0 in the third period.

According to chief referee Philipp Granrod, Reihards Marinis shouted “fucking nonsense” three times when asked to go to his own room, angered by Hugo Stief being sent off for two minutes for constipation.

The referee gave two minutes to Rehards Marinis for “offending the officials,” and when he asked the player to go to the penalty area instead, the tantrum continued.

After saying “Why? You’re a fucking idiot” he received a game misconduct and now a day later he has been given a two-game ban by the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation’s disciplinary board.

– I said to the referee “silly nonsense” after our player was sent off, but the opposing player did not hesitate to show the referee that it was a send off. “I thought it was diving and I felt crazy,” says Rehards Marinis.

“angry at myself”

He mentions in his narration that he was told with his back to the judge and that he did not understand his expulsion.

– When I realized this, I said to myself: “You are a fucking idiot.” “Because I’ve been talking to the referees a lot lately and I was angry with myself for the stupid sending off, we still have a chance to stay in the game and try to win it,” says Rehards Marinis.

According to him, he tried to explain to the assistant referee, but the referee had already made his decision.

– I didn’t even look at him when I said that, but I understand how he thought it was directed at him. I can only apologize to the judge for calling “fucking nonsense.” “Although I take full responsibility for what happened next, I still believe the judge misunderstood me,” says Rehards-Maennis.

Successful newcomer Nybro who played the most matches still leads Hockeyallsvenskan.

Top striker Rehards Marinis will miss the home game against Brynas on Friday evening and the away game against Bjorklofen next Wednesday.
