He disputed the winning goal – the match penalty kick – after the final whistle
Karlstad. Thomas Mittel had to sigh deeply and gather his courage.
The Färjestad coach struggled with his emotions and his words when speaking about the referee’s decision.
– There was a lot that was frustrating, and some of the referees’ decisions were strange, says Thomas Mittel.
The focus was on chief referees Tobias Björk and Andreas Harnebring after Farestad’s 2-1 home loss to Oscarshamn.
Thomas Mittell was dissatisfied with the consistency of the sentence.
The coach enumerated instances in which Oskarshamn had escaped sending off, but believed Farestad had been sent off for similar incidents.
– When they found these expulsions on Magnus Nygren and Joachim Nygard, there were quite a few of them going the other way. Especially when we’re in their area a lot, when ‘Nygga’ went to their area, we had to bring some with us too,’ says Thomas Mittel.
“That was strange”
Several times during the match he expressed his anger at the referees from the box.
– That was strange. Especially since they played in their own area, there were supposed to be barriers to be found. “I think we were leading the game and had a lot of time in the offensive zone, so it was 2-2 on the power play,” says Thomas Mittel.
I think the goal should have been ruled out
Oscarshamn’s winning goal at the end was a long video review of the high stick.
Here too, Thomas Mittel was clear that he did not think the target should be approved.
– The match was settled with Aali Club. It was very questionable. It felt like…it was like…
Thomas Mittel once again had to take a deep breath and look at the ceiling to bite his tongue.
– When we concede two goals like that and we get nothing with us. Then it takes a lot to win.
Penalty kick after the final whistle
Do you think that the level of refereeing favored Oscarshamn in the match?
– It clearly happened. They can just take our guys away when they don’t have the puck and throw them to the rim. I don’t know if you can do it, but maybe you can. I’m not the one to judge. You have to win when you run the game, are a playmaker and are in their zone a lot. If they judge the two packages we received, I wish we had received something similar, but I am not a judge.
At the final whistle, Linus Johansson was also given two minutes for a trip.
