Anton Lundmark in Tingsried is suspended for hitting the referee.
The three-game penalty is the same as the one Albin Lundin received in Timra the day before.
-I can hardly find the words. It’s a terrible sentence we received. This is very bad and I will not accept it, coach Arto Miettinen told Smålandsposten.
Striker Anton Lundmark conceded a penalty kick in the third period against Östersund.
Now he has been suspended for three games under disciplinary charges by the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation for “physically abusing officials”.
The Situation Room wrote in its report: “Anton Lundmark was hit from behind by referee Fredrik Runeberg. Fredrik Runeberg was retreating in the outside area when Anton Lundmark went down to the short edge, drove at Fredrik Runeberg and knocked him to the ground from behind. He fell helpless to the ice without Any chance to protect himself or mitigate the severity of the fall.
Arto Miettinen strongly criticizes the ruling in local newspaper Småland.
– This is very embarrassing. Who sits on the committee? What hockey skills do they have at different levels of the game? If someone intentionally runs over a referee – ban that player for 15-20 games. But in the case where the outside of two skis are in contact with each other, surely we should be able to see when we have video? “It’s embarrassing if you can’t read the game better than this and then I completely lose respect for the disciplinary committee,” says Arto Miettinen.
