New York. William Carlson became the pure Dallas killer.
He was absolutely brilliant against the Stars in a dramatic conference final last spring – and he showed the same form in tonight’s first rematch against the same team at home in Las Vegas.
– There are always difficult games against Dallas in particular, so maybe raise your level a little bit, the top scorer in blue and yellow told Sportbladet after the 3-2 win.
Many members of the Vegas Golden Knights’ championship team were coveting Conn Smythe votes during the spring, but after the conference finals — that is, the semifinals — against the Dallas Stars, William Karlsson emerged as the early favorite.
With five goals in six games and crucial tackles game after game, he was a contributing factor in the Knights winning and actually reaching the Stanley Cup Final.
And when the two teams clashed again last night in top-tier drama at T-Mobile Arena, Märsta’s Dallas Killer continued in the same vein.
First he played until a goal was signed by Kaydan Korczak. Then – with three minutes remaining – he headed off with a 2-2 delivery to Bigoblad.
– It’s not often that I shoot the ball into the goal, so it was a bit of fun. Above all, it’s nice to score the first goal of the season and that’s it, says Wild Bill over the phone from his hometown.
– That things are going well against Dallas in particular… is probably mostly just a coincidence. But there are always tough matches against them, so you should probably push yourself a little higher.
In the end, the Knights were able to win on penalties, thus opening the season with four straight victories.
The Champions don’t really seem to be suffering from a “Stanley Cup hangover.”
– No, it’s like we’re still hungry. Carlson points out that we are having fun and want to win every match.
