Owe Jungåker – HV71 icon – has passed away, turning 84 years old

HV71 has melancholy.

The club’s honorary president, Uwe Jungacker, has died.

– For me, he is Mr. HV71, says coach Johan Lindblom to the club’s website.

HV71 describes Owe Jungåker as “one of the most important people” in the club’s history.

He helped found it when Husqvarna IF and Vätterstads IF merged.

He then served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for 30 years.

– He owed it to HV71 to mean a lot and to develop from a small association to a big club. He had a big big heart, but he was also a good friend and great support to everyone who worked at HV71. A gregarious person who always puts HV71 first. It’s a difficult day today, says Bengt Hallvardsson, a friend of Uwe and the club’s former arena manager.

“Almost unique”

Owe Jungåker was active as a player for Tabergs SK and Husqvarna IF during the 1950s and 1960s. After his playing career, his involvement in hockey continued for the rest of his life, HV wrote on its website.

– A fiery avenue that is almost unique. We who love HV71 have a lot to thank Owe for after everything he has done over the years and today we naturally think of the Owe family, says Johan Lindbom, HV71 coach.
