Jesper Bratt scored four points for New Jersey against the Minnesota Wild • NHL

New York. Jesper Bratt is getting hotter and hotter.

He was responsible for four new points as the Devils defeated the Minnesota Wild last night – and is therefore at the top of the NHL’s goals list.

– With Jack Hughes and Jesper in every series, we have an amazing punch, says coach Lindy Ruff after the 5-3 win.

Since making his surprise debut with New Jersey six years ago, the exceptionally ambitious and serious Jesper Bratt has gradually gotten better – and is now establishing himself as one of the NHL’s truly great Swedish stars.

Game after game, the 25-year-old from Trongsund is dominating the ice and scoring points – and that’s exactly what continued during the Devils’ visit to St. Louis. Paul last night.

In a strong match in the third period, he scored the seventh goal of the season with a wonderful direct shot and assisted three other goals.

Elias Pettersson is gone

This means not only that he leads the Blue and Yellow Shooting League, but that with his eighteen points last night he was second in the overall scoring league for a while, punished only by fellow great Jack Hughes (until an hour or so later Vancouver) started their stage in St. Jose, then his compatriot Elias Pettersson again).

-Boy, Jesper and Jack are so dynamic, says coach Lindy Ruff.

– Of course they accomplish a lot on the power play, but their presence in every series gives us an amazing punch even five on five.

“He has a lot of weapons”

Bratten himself, as usual, mostly talks about how satisfied he is with the team’s effort and the two points.

He says: “This is a difficult field to reach, but we played the right way and got off to a good start on this road trip.”

– Obviously the Powerplay is working well now and that’s what we want. We talk about that a lot, we have a lot of weapons that we can use and we strive to always be a threat and gain momentum when we have another guy on the ice.

Alexander Holtz also got off to a good start and scored his third goal of the season at the Excel Energy Centre.

An assist for Jonas Brodin.
