Jack Hughes is out injured

Jack Hughes has had a great start to the season and leads the NHL scoring charts.

But during Saturday’s game night, the 22-year-old walked off the ice with an injury.

– Everyone was a little disappointed when that happened, says New Jersey Devils teammate Curtis Lazar.

The New Jersey Devils’ injury woes continue during their NHL season opener. Before, key player and team captain Nico Hischier, Tomas Nosek and Colin Miller could be found there.

Now another name is added to the illustrious list.

Jack Hughes started the season with 20 points in 10 games, the league’s leading scorer. During the night match, he was injured after colliding with the touchline at high speed.

Lost balance

The accident actually happened in the first period. The center of the star collided with the edge at high speed after a bullet was fired, knocking it off balance.

Hughes lay for some time, and made his way to the shoulder, before he could reach the cabin on his own. The 22-year-old would then try to make another change, but quickly realized it wouldn’t work, and walked out to the dressing room.

The injury was described as an upper-body injury, and coach Lindy Ruff announced after the game that he had no further updates and that the injury would be evaluated on Saturday.

“You must turn the page”

Hughes was one of the main reasons the Devils started the season as strong as they did.

His teammate Curtis Lazar said after the match that the break will be difficult, but he believes that the team will continue the season on the right track.

– I’m not going to lie, everyone was a little disappointed when that happened. But, you have to try to turn the page when you realize he’s not coming back and just say, ‘Okay, next guy,'” he tells NHL.com and continues:

– We will be tested early here, but I have full confidence in this team.
