Victor Hedman started better and gave Tampa Bay a commanding lead.

But in the end it was a dramatic loss to Toronto – with Calle Jarnkrok becoming the hero of the match when he scored 6-5 in overtime.

After the first 20 minutes, Tampa led 1-4, with Swede Victor Hedman contributing a goal and two assists.

The home team certainly got off to the better start with a goal by Matthew Kniss after just four minutes. But after only half a minute, the opposing team’s Swedish defender equalized, and two minutes later Tampa Bay took the lead with a goal scored by Nikita Kucherov.

The visitors then had the opportunity to play out of numerical superiority twice again and scored on both occasions thanks to double assists from Hedman.

However, Toronto began to make up the deficit in the middle of the night as Auston Matthews lined up two cuts.

Early in the third period, Calle Jarnkrok had a chance and was able to equalize – which Mitchell Marner followed up by giving the home team the lead just seconds after the touchdown.

Less than three minutes before the end, Brandon Hagel managed to score the equalizer. But in the ensuing overtime, Calle Jarnkrok earned the extra point for Toronto with his second goal of the night, set up by Morgan Rielly and William Nylander.
