At her home in Sweden, David’s mother, Sophia Uhmann, who works for an SVT profile, was on high alert.
– I dared to check, but I had a pillow, I told Sportbladet.
Swedish beach volleyball duo David Umann and Jonathan Helveg made their way to the hearts of Sweden during EC Week in Munich.
The Swedish national team has grown considerably during the tournament and managed to claim the European Champions title after two impressive matches on Sunday.
David’s mother sat in her house in Sweden, Sophia Umanwhich is often seen on SVT with his show “Homegympa med Sofia” in full swing.
“I had a pillow”
– I watched the whole match, but I had a pillow. She also managed to take a few turns into the kitchen and back when it got too exciting, she says when Sportbladet arrived at her.
Sophia herself couldn’t have been there to witness this feat.
– I couldn’t get off, because I’m recording new episodes of my home gym. But she says how I wish I could be there.
‘Wrote a lot’
After big matches in two groups, the proud mother can breathe a sigh of relief.
– Absolutely unbelievable, we could never have imagined it. We are speechless. I felt proud and happy, Sophia says and adds:
– It was also so much fun that the Swedes were able to watch this sport. Beach volleyball is very small in Sweden and is never broadcast on TV. People may not know what it is, so it was fun that way. Many who watched my home gym with me wrote and said, “Now I’ve followed son and found a new sport, what a fun it is.” I think this is really cool.
