Activists failed to comply

Activists were quick to limit themselves in the past.

But in Saturday’s Bundesliga match, things went wrong.

“No one skipped the billboards”writes ESPN reporter Archie Raind-Tutt.

Bayern Munich suffered losing its first point of the season when Borussia Monchengladbach Came to visit.

After the 1–1 match at the Allianz Arena, it wasn’t only the visiting goalkeeper Jan Sommer who grabbed the headlines. In the 17th minute came a move now familiar from environmental activists.

Activists jumped

Matches in Germany and England were temporarily suspended last year as people with messages on their shirts ran onto the pitch and strapped themselves to goal posts.

The people who walked into the Allianz Arena on Saturday night had the same plan – but it didn’t quite work out.

First, a person ran and tried to tie himself to the goal of Bayern Munich, but he was soon stopped by several goalkeepers and was taken away.

“Don’t be too successful”

Then the focus shifted to Borussia Monchengladbach’s goal, as the two teams lined up at a corner. Other people ran with T-shirt messages about “stop the fossil madness” but they didn’t stay long in the goal.

ESPN reporter Archie Raind Tott was on hand to report the incident at Twitter.

“Four people trying to tie themselves together. Not everyone succeeded in tying themselves to the poles. No one even skipped the billboards”he is writing.

People in Borussia Mönchengladbach have also been turned away and the match can quickly resume.
