New York. Adrien Quimby hit a milestone last season and scored 35 goals for the Los Angeles Kings.
Now comes the reward.
On Sunday, he signed a new four-year contract with the California club for a total value of SEK 231 million.
– I am very satisfied and happy, says the 25-year-old guardian of Sportbladet.
He’s been with the Kings for six years and has been a well-known NHL player in at least five of them, so it’s probably a bit bold to call him a Adrian Kempe I just got hacked.
But something definitely happened last season. Having scored a maximum of sixteen goals, he suddenly crushed in 35 goals and thanks to the impressive harvest he became the team’s top scorer – the third top scorer in the league also after Philip Forsberg and Elias Lindholm.
The big difference is that I played at the highest level all season. In the past, I had a fellow chain mate Anze Kopitar from time to time. Now we played together practically all the time. With such a player at his side, everything becomes easier, but we also had time to develop chemistry together, says Adrian on the phone from the summer cottage in Stockholm.
– 35 goals I didn’t think I’d do, but it went well and my self-confidence started to grow, self-confidence is very important in all sports.
There is no doubt that King appreciated the effort. So on Sunday they agreed with their Swedish sniper to extend the contract for four years. It will give him an average of $5.5 million per season, and the current dollar exchange rate will total more than 231 million kronor.
– I am very satisfied and happy. At least, it’s a good thing that it became clear so early, he continues.
– But now that the contract is signed, the delivery is also important. The pressure will be greater in the future.
