UME. Björklöven’s players fought violently with C More’s microphone stand in the players’ booth during an intermission.
Now Allsvenskan hockey works.
– We got together after the game and decided to remove the pole and microphone, says the league’s sports director, Eric Reimann.
In a 3-4 deficit with barely two minutes to go, Björklöven took a time out to lay out plans for a final push against Djurgården.
But at the same time that coach Viktor Strahle conveyed his message to the players, a fencing match was taking place a little on the right side of the Leuven players’ box.
Weigel intervened: “Just annoying.”
Maxime Fortier was swinging his cane wildly at the stand of the television microphone used to capture the sound during the time-out. Friedrich Weigel also intervened and firmly showed what he thought of the matter.
– I don’t know what you’re going to do there. It’s just annoying for us who have to stand up and talk to each other. I don’t know if you’ve ever experienced that, Weigel says.
Did you get a rap on it?
– damn it. We had just removed the mount, and there were a few of us who disturbed it.
What is said on time out that should not come out to the media?
– I do not think so. Not in such an important position.
Acts after the meeting: “There shouldn’t be”
This is not the first time that C More’s “timeout mic” has been in focus in the allsvenskan hockey qualifiers.
When AIK coach Anton Blomqvist ordered his team to play foul during a timeout against Modo, the words were sent straight. The use of language provoked strong reactions and Blomqvist was reprimanded by the disciplinary board as a result.
Now Allsvenskan hockey works.
– We had a meeting after the game and decided to remove the pole and microphone. There should not be in such important matches and the equipment may break. I told the production company, says Allsvenskan hockey sports director Erich Reimann.
Djurgården won the match 5-3 and lead the match series 3-2. The sixth match will be played in Stockholm on Wednesday.
