AIK conflicts with BP – check by union

Two clubs in Stockholm are in conflict.

This is after a 14-year-old talent from Brommapojkarna started playing for AIK.

According to Fotboll Sthlm, AIK may have broken Swedish Football Association rules – and the club is now being investigated.

Since the end of 2022, Brommapojkarna and AIK have been at odds. The conflict is due to two young talents from BP who ended up in AIK. Something that has troubled Brommapojkarna, but also Hammarby and Djurgården, where some time ago the Stockholm clubs had an agreement not to recruit from each other at youth level. Several meetings were held to resolve the situation, but the atmosphere between the two parties remained frosty. Since December, Sportbladet has sought Brommapojkarna club director Peter Cleve over the issue, who, however, did not want to comment.

Now Fotboll Sthlm has taken a closer look at the case. It turned out that one of the club’s notable changes, which involved a 14-year-old talent, may have been made in an irregular fashion. The website describes the player first leaving BP for a smaller club in the Stockholm area, only to switch to AIK shortly thereafter. According to Fotboll Sthlm’s information, the move to AIK will have to be made with the help of Universal Sports Group’s dealer network, which may run counter to Swedish Football Association regulations. Namely, agents are not allowed to make transfers for players under the age of 15.

Check by the assembly

The information is now urging the association to launch an investigation into the incident.

“In this case, I currently have very little information to be able to determine if there have been any breaches of the broker’s regulations, but based on the information you have provided we will seek dialogue with the parties involved to try and investigate the matter in more detail,” writes Christine Stridsberg, an attorney at Svff, in a comment for Fotboll Sthlm and continues:

“The course of events raises a number of questions, which we in SvFF will have reason to investigate in more detail in order to assess whether something has occurred in violation of the broker’s regulations. Such an investigation may also answer the question of whether the fault lies with the player or AIK or proxy (or several of them).

AIK denies any violation of the rules

Club director, CEO and interim sporting director Manuel Lindberg, who according to the site should have been the driving force to lure the 14-year-old to AIK, denied that the club had broken any rules.

– The player does not have a mediator with an advisor. There is nothing … we have achieved. There are no contracts. We do not have contracts with anyone. And the players do not have a contract with anyone. You must have a consultant. You can hire your brother or sister or anyone as an advisor, Lindberg tells Fotboll Sthlm.

Sportbladet, before Fotboll Sthlm published the matter, had previously asked Lindberg questions about the conflict between AIK and Brommapojkarna.

– It’s an academic issue and it’s not on my table. I mostly work with the first team, but there are always discussions between different clubs and players who move for different reasons. There have been discussions regarding some players but I hope and believe that they will be resolved over time. I think it could still be a good collaboration (with Brommapojkarna), Lindberg told Sportbladet.

Peter Cliff of Brommapojkarna spoke to Football Channel on Wednesday.

– It’s a delicate situation, and we’re in dialogue with AIK. He says it’s a delicate situation.
