– Amanda Nielden says letting them both play a tournament in the same summer feels a little crazy.
Amanda Nelden melted down Peter Gerhardsson’s message in UEFA and landed her in the Sweden national team.
On site in a stadium, the Juventus left-back focuses on developing in the squad.
I think I found peace in myself on the court and became safer for the ball. I like being offensive from my prime, says Matilda Nielden.
She is living her childhood dream.
– I have dreamed of playing tournaments since I started playing football. Amanda Nielden says standing here feels good.
There is more to be happy about.
Because even little sister Matilda Nelden, 17, was called up to take part in the tournament. The AIK player is part of the F19 squad that will play the European Championship in the Czech Republic this summer.
– It feels a bit unrealistic. We’ve talked about the fun of playing together in the future. I’m so happy for her, because she was taken out. I’ll try to follow it as best I can, says Amanda Nielden.
“Shocked and very happy”
Matilda is equally happy:
– It’s so much fun. I am incredibly tagged.
What were you thinking when you were selected?
– I was a little shocked that I had not been before, but I was very happy. It’s extra fun when you’re over a year old.
How do you feel when your sister goes out at the same time and celebrates with her?
– more than great. She was actually at home in Stockholm too, so it was very interesting to be with her.
The two sisters are great support for each other.
We talk to each other when things are going well and bad, which we do. It’s really cool, Matilda says about Amanda.
‘A lot of talk about football at home’
what does it mean to you?
– Much. Yes, it’s great to talk to her about at football because she’s struggled with injuries etc. It is wonderful to have her.
Juventus professional Amanda also appreciates her sister’s support.
There will be a lot of football talking at home, as you will try to watch each other’s matches and this is a great support for you, says Amanda Nielden.
