He was selected in the EC lineup.
Now Amanda Nielden, 23, is telling about the unknown drama she’s been in this week — which ended in the emergency room.
– She woke up in the middle of the night with terrible pain, she says and reveals that she must have an operation after the tournament.
Regarding the Algarve Cup in February, Amanda Nildén made her second national team debut for the first time since the start in the A national team. She finished with success and praise from national team captain Peter Gerhardsson.
Since then, she has suffered two severe setbacks.
The first: when she fell ill and had to self-isolate during the World Cup qualifiers in Gothenburg in April.
Second: an overnight visit to the emergency room in Turin this week.
Low fetal position
Now Nelden reveals that the season with Juventus ended in a dramatic fashion and that she was forced to go to hospital in acute pain – just days before the Coppa Italia final on May 22.
– I felt it hurt after lunch, and then it got worse. In the evening I was in the fetal position. Then I woke up in the middle of the night and went to the hospital in terrible pain. She says it turns out that he is mine and becomes an accessory.
The 23-year-old says she will have surgery – after the European Championships.
– There was no need for emergency surgery, I received antibiotics, but I will have surgery after the European Championships. It will be removed during the summer. I’ve now started training properly again and have no problems, she says.
“The family cried”
Nielden wasn’t sure she’d get a spot in EC. When the news came in SVT’s live broadcast on Tuesday night, the relief was palpable.
– Yes, but damn it. He was tense. I sat with some family members and hardly dared to check. They shouted, “You’re in!”
– It was a nice surprise, she says.
– You’ve always hoped and it was in the back of your mind and you tried not to think about it even though it was there the whole time. But I didn’t dare to believe much.
What would you like to add to the team?
– I hope I can add a great deal of offensive power from my position. Go around a little at the edges, says Amanda Nelden.
