Andrei Burakowski becomes the 11th Swede to win the Stanley Cup twice

Tampa. He only managed to play four and a half terms in the Stanley Cup Final due to a broken thumb – but Andrei Burakovsky is still as happy as he was when he won with Washington four years ago.

“Yeah, it feels so great,” Skåne chanted during the Snowboard Victory Ceremony at the Amalie Arena.

As of last night, there were sixteen Swedes who won the Stanley Cup more than once – but the club now has a new member.

Andrey Burakovsky.

The 27-year-old Malmo Baggen won with Washington 2018 and has now won with Colorado.

Stuck in a suit, as it is called. In the second final against Tampa, he broke his thumb and then could no longer play.

“I had to operate on it and then tried a few matches but it didn’t work,” he says, showing a thumb that looked like a freshly baked cake.

But Bora – who managed to score two final goals in the short time he was involved – is equally happy anyway.

Yes, it feels great like the last time I won, he confirms.

– The team did a really great job, and I’m very proud of the guys.

Andre is also the only other Swede to win the cup with two different teams. The first was Oscar Sundqvist, who did so first with Pittsburgh 2016 and then with St. Louis 2019.

Swedes who have won the Stanley Cup more than twice:

Anders Kalor, Stefan Persson, Niklas Liedstrom, Thomas Holmstrom (all 4), Niklas Healmarsson (3) and Thomas Johnson, Willie Lindstrom, Ulf Samuelson, Peter Forsberg, Tommy Alblin, Johnny Odoya, Markus Krueger, Patrick Hornke Sundqvist, Victor Hedman and Andrei Burakowski.
