Anton Häkkinen is in Skellefteå hospitalized for a practice match against Modo

SM finalist Skellefteå faces a chaotic pre-season ahead of the SHL.

In connection with the training match against Modu, Anton Häkkinen had to go to the hospital.

Now it looks like the interesting front signature will be gone for some time to come.

Anton Häkkinen suffered a heavy blow during the match in Örnsköldsvik.

The muscular 23-year-old striker signed from Mora was tackled from the front by Josh Dickinson with his leg at an unfortunate angle.

– I don’t think it’s good, coach Robert Olson tells Nuran.

away from training

Anton Heikkinen had to go to the hospital for an x-ray.

– There was no fracture, but it is not suitable for training. It’s too early to say how long he’ll be out, we’re monitoring and assessing progress, team doctor Karen Granberg tells Sportbladet.

In the first training matches, Anton Häkkinen was high up the hierarchy alongside super duo Jonathan Johnson and Richard Hough.

Anton Heikkinen is one of Skellefteå’s three new pre-season signings, along with centre-back Oscar Lindberg and striker Martins Dzierkals.

Goaltender David Rautio will also cover for Gustaf Lindvall during the CHL.

Troubled days

Kenny Agostino’s contract was terminated two days after Sportbladet revealed he had signed for Växjö last summer but opted to continue in the Premier League instead.

– There was external pressure. We must stick together as a group and become us against the world. “We’re learning something and moving on,” Robert Olson tells Noran.

Former captain Oscar Mueller will be absent until further notice due to fatigue syndrome.

Charging for CHL

Over the summer, Skellefteå mainly lost to Andreas Fingerlei, Tom Koneckl and Linus Højberg.

18-year-old tailback talent Elias Salomonson will start the season at camp with the Winnipeg Jets to try and break into the NHL.

Skellefteå won 5-4 against Modo without impressing, after Oscar Lindberg decided in extra time.

Previously, Skellefteå won 3–2 after extra time at home against Luleå.

On Friday evening, the traditional pre-season derby awaits fellow Västerbotten Bjorkloven.

Before the SHL’s home debut against Modo in three weeks, four CHL games await.
