“whatever you wish for”
New York. Now it is quite clear.
Anton Strålman has signed a one-year contract with the Boston Bruins.
“If we put it together on the snow, I think it’s going to be a really good year and that’s all you can hope for when you’re almost at the end of a career,” says the Sportbladet rear veteran.
He was not offered a new contract by Arizona this summer, ‘Strålle’, so he instead went to Boston a few weeks ago for a so-called ‘tryout’ – which means the player is invited to pre-season camp and there he gets a chance to prove to club management. He deserves a place on the team.
The 36-year-old Fastgot has made such an impression on new Bruins coach Jim Montgomery that he is now on a one-year contract worth $1 million.
– It feels so good. We have an exciting group, with veterans who know what it takes, men entering “the top” and two good rangers, he says on the phone from his new hometown.
– If we put it together on the snow with systems etc, I believe in a really good year. And that’s exactly all you could wish for when you are now almost at the end of your career path.
Anton hasn’t got his visa yet, so he won’t play in the Bruins’ season opener against DC in Washington tonight, but in the opening game at home against the old Arizona team on Saturday, he should be ready to play.
Bruins’ new defender is the still active Swede who has played alongside Nicklas Bäckström for the longest time in the NHL. He debuted in 2007, and in the fifteen seasons that have passed since then, he’s appeared in a total of 930 regular season games for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and Arizona Coyotes. The track record also includes 113 playoffs and the Stanley Cup Final.
