Axel Sanden-Belica in flying mayhem on his way to the NHL Draft

On his way to the NHL draft, Axel Sandin-Belica, 18, is stranded in New York.

Now they have to drive 13 hours to Nashville.

– I slapped my brother several times, and he says about the “yellow car game” that passes the time.

A thunderstorm has moved over the United States, causing a lot of flights to be cancelled. Skellefteå AIK back-up talent Axel Sanden-Belica, 18, is one of those affected, which NSD was first to report.

He, family and agent Claes Elvalck were to stop in New York on Monday and change flights to Nashville, where the NHL draft is taking place on Thursday.

This was not the case.

All departures were canceled and had to check into hotels.

– The next plan was on Thursday, and it didn’t pan out, says Sandine Pelica.

First time driving in the USA

Solution? They rented a car, and on Tuesday morning it was closed.

When the Sportbladet reaches 18, they’ve managed to complete a fifth of his 13-hour ride.

– We drove mostly through small towns and it looks like a rainforest in places. I actually managed to drive for the first time in America. But now Liam Dower Nelson (Björklöfen) has taken over.

How many pluses does his leadership give?

– If he had played anywhere other than Bjorkloven, he would have played at five. But that’s exactly why he gets four, he says.

How do you pass the time?

– Now I’m sitting here and playing some offline games so I don’t have to pay so much for surfing when I’m back home in Sweden.

You do not drive the classic yellow car?

– Well my little brother is sitting next to me so I slapped him a few times and said “yellow car”.

“I have to try to catch up.”

They are expected to arrive on Tuesday evening, and on Thursday it is time to recruit. By now, the back hadn’t had enough time to absorb what was about to happen.
– It’s a very exciting experience. But I haven’t had time to realize it’s going to start, so the stress will probably come when I’m there.

What happens after the draft?

– Most teams run a “development” after the draft, so I packed my hockey stuff. But right after that, when you get back to Sweden, I have to start training again and catch up with Gällivare quickly. Maybe go fishing and snowboarding there.
