Ahead of the 2018/19 season, new Stanley Cup champion Barry Trotz with the Washington Capitals took charge of New York Islanders And Chris.
He transformed the team’s defense from one of the NHL’s worst ever to the best, leading them to consecutive conference finals.
But after missing out on the playoffs this year, the islanders have now opted to fire Barry Trotz.
General Manager Lou Lamorillo announced his decision today, but did not want to go into detail about his thinking.
“What I can say is that we felt the need to get a new voice, but it wasn’t a really easy decision,” he says.

Barry Trotz has one year left on his $4 million per season contract.
He is expected to be ready immediately for a new job and the clubs already mentioned as potential destinations for Trotz are the Chicago Blackhawks and the Philadelphia Flyers.
