Apparently Latvia cheered tonight.
Åke Stakkestad and Linus Sjödin are ready to qualify for the Junior WC Quarterfinals.
– They’re out now, says Staxtad.
small crowns Kick the ball as Latvian players advance after their match against the Czech Republic.
Encouraging happy Latvian players.
– I understand that they were very happy with the progress. I think I read something that it was the first time they had come this far, says Swedish striker Linus Sjoden.
He read it correctly.
– We were standing and playing ball and then they passed. I felt like they won the whole championship. It’s fun for them, but they’re out now, says teammate Åke Stakkestad.
Sweden meets Latvia
Aki Stockstad, of course, doesn’t hold much grudge against Latvia in particular. But he does not want the Swedish Junior Cup to end in the quarter-finals on Wednesday evening.
– It’s a win or a loss, so everything should be good. It’s a match and anything can happen, everything really has to come, says the Karlskoga striker.
– They had a blast and reached the quarter-finals. I watched two matches and I think they played well against better teams.
Is there a danger that they may be full now that they have reached the premises?
– No, I really don’t think so. They played well throughout the tournament and were amazed. So they might do it now in the playoffs, too. It is important to be ready.
Do you know what they are good at?
– Above all, to be careful when we make mistakes and get bored, I say.
What should you do so as not to get bored?
– Play our game and don’t play much in the attack area, but play as we want with a lot of traffic in front of the penalty area.
“One of three games”
Neither Linus Sjödin nor Åke Stakkestad want to describe Latvia as a big opponent in the quarter-finals.
– It’s really the same thing we get. If we want to win the gold, we have to beat everyone else. Stakkestad says it’s one of three games, so it’s just about playing our game and getting it out.
– As Åke said, they reached the quarter-finals and beat the Czech Republic. So we know it’s a good team, and it certainly won’t be an easy match, says Sjoden.
The quarter-final match Sweden – Latvia in JVM hockey begins at 21.30 and the match is broadcast on SVT24 and SVT Play.
