Block fans from the ice – worry about theft and beatings

Modo could be ready for the SHL tomorrow, after a seven-year stay in Hockeyallsvenskan.

But fans won’t be partying with idols on ice.

– The Security Department of the Ice Hockey Federation stops it. I understand that. Hockeyallsvenskan sporting director Eric Reimann says some fans can root for Bernhardt or Woods.

She’s getting ready for the party in Örnsköldsvik now.

That gloomy evening on April 1, 2016 will be erased from history and Modo dreams of returning to the SHL with a fourth win against Djurgården.

Of course, the club and the municipality of Örnsköldsvik are planning a bigger party in which the potential success will be celebrated.

But there won’t be any party on ice tomorrow night, should you upgrade.

– We were just talking about it in the morning in the office and we’ve never had this situation before. HV71 appeared in Umeå a year ago, and when Temara came up two years ago it was an epidemic. But we checked and the rules were quite clear, the ice may not be entered by people who are not allowed to be there, says Gabriel Monedl, CEO of Hockeyallsvenskan.

“Sometimes the security saw a little bit between the fingers.”

This means that Modo fans stay in the stands when the team celebrates on the ice and there will be no hugging or snuggling with the idols.

In 2017, Mora fans celebrated on their home ice when the club knocked out Leksand in the playoffs. Djurgården fans should have done the same in 2014.

The rules have been the same for a very long time. But sometimes, security saw a little through the fingers. But the Ice Hockey League won’t do that tomorrow. The keepers will make sure that the ice becomes a protected area and the Ice Hockey Association will be adamant, says Hockeyallsvenskan sporting director Erik Reimann and adds:

It’s about the safety of the players. I understand that. Some fans can applaud Bernhardt or Woods, or the helmets and clubs disappear from the players. Rayman concludes that it must be an orderly.
