Bo Horvat scores in New York Islanders’ win over Seattle

New York. The Savior came to Long Island last night.

Bo Horvat scored directly in his home debut for the New York Islanders – and the new fans greeted him with thunderous cheers.

– I was never part of that, it felt great, says the former Vancouver captain after a 4-0 win in which young Swede Simon Holmstrom also contributed a goal.

He actually played his first game in Philadelphia last night, the Islanders’ star center was traded from Vancouver last week and this weekend he got an eight-year contract.

But last night, the famous fans at the UBS Arena managed to meet Bo Horvat, in a game against the Seattle Kraken, and you can safely describe it as love at first sight.

When he caught a pass from fellow freshman in the series Matt Barzal just to the right of the visitor’s territory five minutes into the second period and sprinkled it 4-0, the Thunder went to Long Island.

– Horvat, Horvat, Horvat, chanted 17,255 happy souls for a minute.

“It was absolutely amazing,” says nhl.com’s tribute thread.

– I’ve never been in it, rhyme with my name in such a big way.

Twenty-one-year-old Simon Holmström of Theranos also scored a stunning goal – his third of the rookie season – in a game that the outclassed Islanders won 4-0.

For Kraken, it was also a bleak night around the time Andre Burakovsky broke — right away. He only managed to stay on the ice for one change, then disappeared into the locker room with what was described as a lower body injury.

In two periods, Colorado had a strong away play advantage against Pittsburgh, but they only managed one puck—and then it went as usual in times like this.

The Penguins rallied at number three and managed to tie it up before full timeout. Then Chris Letang decided in overtime, played by Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.

– In general, I still think we played a good game. We’ll take the point we’ve got, says Jared Bednar, head coach of the team.

In Nashville, Matt Duchene scored after five minutes to give the Predators a 1-0 lead against Vegas, assisted by Philip Forsberg.

But then the fun is over. The home team managed six poor shots on goal in the first two periods, so the visitors were able to curl up without much effort to win 5-1.

William Carlson got help for the knights.

Farmland fullback Philip Broberg provided two assists as Edmonton beat the Red Wings 5-2 in Detroit – and was generally very solid on the ice.

In the home team, Lucas Raymond was noted for playing.

The bottom of the West encounter between Chicago and Anaheim was 2-2 full time. Then Frank Vatrano decided for Ducks, played by Isaac Lundstrom and John Klingberg.
