Brinas had a crisis meeting – without Miko Manner • SHL

Brynäs continues to lose – now a humiliating 1-7 at home against Oskarshamn.

The information to Sportbladet says that the team held a meeting last week where opinions were expressed about the game system.

– We talked about trying to move (forward) a little more, says captain Anton Rudin.

The loss against Oskarshamn was Brennas’ fourth in his last five matches. Although Brynäs won the shootout with a score of 53-24, they lost by a score of 1-7, after three new goals from SHL scorer Antti Suomela.

Now the 10 points Brynäs had to his credit in the HV71 just four games ago are gone.

Instead, Brynäs is in the qualifying zone, two points ahead of HV71.

Last week there was a break for the national team. Then there was time for discussions. According to information to Sportbladet, Brynä’s players and captains had a 40-minute meeting over the past week where the game system was in focus.

It was mainly three of the most famous players who expressed their opinions about the system of play used by Brynäs, which reminds a lot of the way the Finnish national team plays.

Too passive and too complex, think of gamers who would like to see a faster, straighter game.

Among other things, players believe that plays controlled from their area take too long and that they want to move forward and apply higher pressure more often than was the case.

The assistant coach held the meeting

– It was nothing special, more than that we had two ways of behaving. Not that we stand back and hold back, but we must be able to be aggressive as well. There is really no deception about this, says Anton Rudin.

Did players want to emphasize that you are more aggressive more often?

– I don’t know if we want to toughen it up in any way, but it might be a little more on your toes. Beware of some mistakes and quickly turn the game around. Uh, I don’t know if it’s that big of a deal, I think we had it all season long, says Rudin.

Mikko Manner was in Malmö last week leading Finland at the Beijer Hockey Games.

Instead, it was assistant coach Ari Pekka Baguluma who held the meeting and there were opinions from the players about the game system.

Since Monday, Manner has come back to Brinas again knowing that the players have expressed their thoughts during the week he was absent:

– We’ve tried to develop that we don’t just have difficulty checking and “trapping”. Without something between us in the midcourt when there’s some distance, we don’t line up directly in the “trap” so opponents have time to build up momentum, he says.

What do you know about the meeting?

– The guys spoke and “Bajn” (Baguloma) and developed. We’ve talked and checked some stats and such.

“Now I’m a bad boss.”

Do you and the players agree on how to play?

– Yes, I feel it, but you have to ask the guys. But I am my harshest critic. We didn’t play anything different in those two games, we just tried to improve our game.

– You have to ask the guys.

But how do you feel?

– Yes, I feel that they are with me and their hearts are big.

Against Oskarshamn, Brenas came out more aggressive than before. But instead they were severely punished for individual mistakes.

The first three goals came from neglect – the last three from poor discipline with several expulsions.

Since Mikko Manner extended his contract in November, Brenas, along with teammate Malmö, have been the weakest team in the league.

– It’s not done well. It’s bad and I’m responsible. But this has nothing to do with my own behavior. I have a lot of routine, and when I was a successful coach I had the same behavior as now when I am a bad coach. I haven’t done a good enough job to help this team, says Miko Manner
