Brommapojkarna works after Sportbladet review

After a high-profile review of youth football by Sportbladet within Brommapojkarna, the board of directors now acknowledges that they are aware of the problems in the organisation.

A special working group is now appointed to investigate the youth activities of the association.

– With the results in hand, we should have acted faster and more aggressively, says Chairman Manfred Aronson on the club’s website.

Over the past month, Sportbladet has examined Europe’s largest football association, Brommapojkarna. We were able to point out serious flaws in the management of the boys’ teams and hide the problems on the part of the club’s management.

The events achieved by splitting the class team but according to the youth leaders featured in the Sportbladet review are systematic errors that have been repeated annually for many years in the past.

“Obviously we broke”

The association’s board of directors wrote on its website that at an additional board meeting they decided to conduct an investigation into the entire youth activities.

The council was involved in both the media and in direct contact with many leaders in the dissatisfaction within our youth activities. It is clear to us that as an association we have failed to manage and follow up on our youth activities. The Board of Directors has therefore decided to set an inquiry as to how youth football follows the values of the club and our guidelines set out in the BP model,” the board writes.

When Sportbladet met board member Mats Oerbrink on April 8, he denied there were any structural problems within the association.

Out of the 700 leaders, it’s clear that not everyone deals with what we want to do. But it is a fading minority. It is not a structural problem. No one is left behind, said Oerbrink. We will find solutions.

I learned about the mistakes

Now BP instead admits it was aware of the errors even before Sportbladet’s publications.

During the fall, we received indications on the board that parts of the youth activities were not working the way we wanted them to. We had an internal dialogue about the situation prior to 2022 and made this our top priority when we appointed our new club director last winter. With the result in hand, we should have acted faster and more aggressively. We regret it, and through this investigation we want to get a detailed picture of the shortcomings that exist in our youth activities, so that we can launch clear and powerful improvement actions, says Chairman Manfred Aronson,

According to the club, the investigation will be a major task “while giving the time and resources to identify the deficiencies and problems that exist and how to solve them”.

Work will be led by new club director Peter Cliff and completed on September 30.
