Brynäs again had a tough day at work.
On Boxing Day, they fell to Oskarshamn 6-2 away from home.

It was Brenas’ eighth loss in their last nine matches, and the latter team didn’t have much to contribute on Monday when they visited Oskarshamn. The home duo of Patrick Karlqvist and Ante Soumela provided goals, just as they did in the last meeting between the two teams. The final score was 6-2 and the home crowd was ecstatic afterward.

Targeted at the third
With this win, Oskarshamn got back on the winning streak after three straight losses.

It was Karlqvist who opened the scoring, netting after four minutes of play. Jerry Smikal was responsible for the serious hockey pudding in the second period. He was responsible for a number of delicious moves and skated around opponent Tommi Karhonen and then scored a 2-0 score.

After four minutes of play in the third period, Suomela added the aforementioned (15th goal of the season) and Miles Powell made it 4-0 two minutes later. Greg Scott and Jacob Blomqvist each scored a consolation goal for Brenas before Sumela and John Johnson rounded out the numbers to 6-2.
“It wasn’t the start you wanted here,” says Jacob Blomqvist, who played his first game for the Brenas since leaving in 2022.
