New York. Viktor Olofsson lives up to his nickname “Golovsson” game after game.
He smashed another puck when last night Buffalo notched one of the season’s heaviest away wins against Dallas, and that means he’s scored seven goals in his last seven games.
“It’s about a combination of self-confidence, fluency, and that I read the game a little bit better now,” says the 27-year-old Angerman of Sportbladet after winning 3-2 in Texas.
It started sounding early last fall all over again, when the Buffalo Sabers wandered off dropping ten pointers on the assembly line. The Dallas Stars are a team they shouldn’t be able to compete against, at least not at the American Airlines Center, but they managed to get two points there tonight – following an overtime goal scored by promising young linebacker Owen Bauer.
– Yes, it was strong from us, – says Viktor Olofsson on the phone from Texas.
We didn’t start well but we still got 1-1 after the first half and then I think we beat them really well in the second half.
One difference compared to the October and November victory streaks is that Victor is just starting to collect pucks. Then he produced after that, but not with the same startling frequency as in recent weeks. He hit a powerful shot last night as well, and in doing so, scored seven goals in his last seven games. In total, he hits 22 complete hits, which is a personal record – and brings him joint second place in the Swedish Shooting League.
– Yes, I’ve already relaxed and of course it’s fun, Golovsson continues.
– It’s about a mixture of confidence and fluency and that I’m reading the game a little bit better now. I find suitable surfaces where there is space to shoot.
Rasmus Dalin also scored a shot against Dallas, and the number reached fourteen goals.
