– It was so green, it’s a real bloody dirt track actually. But I hooked it up really well and did everything right. Then I probably relaxed and then made a mistake paralleling it looked exactly the same on the right and I was a hundred percent sure I was running right. But I ended up at the wrong controls, Ohlsson says and continues:
– So I tried to do it over and over again, but I ended up in the same place. I thought, “How am I going to solve this?” In the end, I just wanted to go home. When ten minutes passed, I knew it was over, but I looked back like crazy. It wasn’t enough because it took so long.
Now she cannot participate in Saturday’s middle distance final.
– It’s so boring. I know I should be able to run through these qualifiers, but this terrain is really tough. When things go wrong, they totally go wrong, Olson says.
How were the hours after qualifying?
– You are so angry at yourself. This is very difficult in elite sport, especially steering sport. If I relax for a second and don’t check my compass… I was really looking forward to this middle distance anyway and it’s all crumbling now. On such a small and small decision.
– I went from going for the medals to coming out in the playoffs. This is not what I expected.

Olson explains:
If you had a bad day at work, you could go home and think it’s a bit shameful. But you probably don’t hate yourself anywhere else more than you do after a bad race. You feel very disappointed.
– But that’s also what makes it so fun when it’s going so well, because you were in bad shape and had to taste the damn sauerkraut so many times. So it’s a bit of both.
