Charlotte Cala is upset – she says in her summer talk

Charlotte Calla didn’t want any honors after the toilet at Seefeld 2019.

In her summer talk, she spoke about the annoyance that erupted when she was highlighted as key to her friends’ success.

– I’ve never finished my investment and exploring how I can become good, says Kala in Somar at P1.

When Charlotte Calla Summer at P1 talks about, among other things, the struggles before the decision to end her cross-country skiing career.

The decision came after the Olympics last winter, despite the invitation of a friend of hers and an attempt to persuade her to continue competing with the help of new training ideas.

The jump is the last thing left, but the flow I longed to get out on the rink never came. My last Olympic race was the fiercest I’ve ever had in a championship, says Charlotte Calla at Sommar in P1.

An invitation to make a difficult decision

Cala finished her career with the Swedish Championships in Petio, then took the full blow of the season when she pounced on both Frieda Karlsson and Ebba Anderson and took the gold in the 15km freestyle.

Just before the Swedish championship kicked off, Kalla announced that she was retiring and before that thoughts were running through her head.

– May I not be completely sure? What if we regret? But I knew long before I put my head on the pillow on that starry night in March what I wanted. Curiosity about life outside of elite sports outweighs. One of the most important decisions of my life was made. I woke up early on a Sunday and anxiously waited for my partner to wake up. I got upset but it’s too good to say it out loud for the first time.

“I wanted to own the question myself.”

Charlotte Calla has never been asked when she plans to end her career.

During WC at Seefeld 2019, many wanted to pay tribute to me and highlight the importance I placed on regrowth in Swedish women’s skating. It really bothers me because I have never finished my investment and exploring how I can become good. I wanted to own the question of when it was time to summarize my career. When you feed on this question often enough, it can easily become your truth, says Kala in Sommar in P1.

Summer in P1 is released as a podcast at 07.00 and airs on P1 at 13.00.
