Last week, Sportbladet reported that the old Hovet box was on sale and that the highest bid was SEK 200.
Subsequently, bids were raised and the rim finally sold for 78,000.
“Driving 11 miles one way”
Lars Christianson works for IceStar Camp, which organizes hockey camps, and he presented the winning bid on behalf of the company.
“I had advice from a friend, my hockey dad, and I didn’t hesitate to strike,” he tells Sportbladet.

– Personally, I have roots in Idre and know that people who live there travel 11 miles one way to Älvdalen to play hockey. There is an outdoor skating rink in Idre but it needs renovation.
Want to build an ice rink
In December last year, Lars Christianson participated and organized the first edition of the “Classic Winter Skills Camp” in Edri. A hockey camp is included for children whose families choose to live in Idre Fjäll, which also helps fund the camp. The plan is to inaugurate the new saddle from Hofit for this year’s camp.
– We’ll manage it well in Edri. Worth all the money. The idea then is to decorate the rink and build an ice rink. So maybe we get a hockey team at Idre that might be able to challenge Mora and Leksand in the future, he says.
