Cristiano Ronaldo avoids damage to Catherine Mayorga

Cristiano Ronaldo does not have to pay compensation to Catherine Mayorga.

On Friday, Judge Jennifer Dorsey announced that she would close the case in civil court in Las Vegas.

American woman Kathryn Mayorga appeared in 2018 and told that she had been raped Cristiano Ronaldo.

The charges did not lead to any prosecution against Ronaldo, but the trial continued in the civil court because Mayorga demanded damages from Ronaldo.

The background to the alleged compensation is that the two parties signed a non-disclosure agreement that Mayorga Ronaldo and his representatives accuse of publishing details about. This was even before the German newspaper Der Spiegel published an article based on the same document.

250 million wanted

Ronaldo’s representatives explained the leak by saying that law firms had been hacked and lawyer Peter Christiansen claimed that the information contained in the documents had changed.

On Friday, Jennifer Dorsey, a Las Vegas civil court judge, decided to close the case.

The Associated Press reported that the reason was not a lack of evidence but that Mayorga’s lawyer Leslie Mark Stovall was said to have used leaked and stolen documents where Ronaldo spoke to his lawyer as evidence.

Even earlier this year, Jennifer Dorsey indicated she was ready to end the case because Leslie Mark Stovall failed to meet the deadline in the proceedings.

Catherine Mayorga sued Cristiano Ronaldo for damages of more than $25 million (250 million kroner). According to the confidentiality agreement, she initially received 3.6 million Swedish kronor to conceal Ronaldo’s rape.
