AIK icon Nebojsa Novakovic has become the new AIK Women’s Head Coach for just over a week now.
But it’s only about the match – and that’s from the stands rather than the coaching staff.
– I don’t think it would have been better if I sat on the bench, Novakovic told Sportbladet.
On Monday, damallsvenska AIK took its eighth straight loss. Then the other team opted to completely rework the coaching side.
Coach Maigo Rutsalainen, assistant coach Scott Swenson and athletic director Anne Makinen were allowed to leave their posts. Instead with new coach duo Jesper Björk and Nebojsa Novakovic.
The latter, however, is only in relation to the match.
He also watches matches from the stands – which he did in the 0-2 loss to BP in Skyholm.
– That’s because I only work with the team when the game is on. I am not in training. And this is how the club thought we should change coaches, as AIK icon Novakovic explains.
– I still have other work to do on normal days. Jesper and Mickey (Michael Nelson, assistant coach) work on the courses. It became more credible for me to sit in the stands and communicate with those on the bench.
“I do the tasks I receive”
During the match, Novakovic was in constant contact with his colleague in the technical staff via the earpiece.
But does that still not send a strange signal when you, as a coach, are not in the coaching staff?
I send weird signals too if I’m not part of the training. The club decided we were going to do it. We believe in coaches who work with the team. They need my help in all the matches and I do that. I do the tasks assigned to me, and this is how we reach the girls in the best possible way, Novakovic says and continues:
With the results, you can always direct them in a negative way to work. But we will do the same in the future.
Jesper Björk also doesn’t see any setup issues.
“Nipuisa and I have worked closely together during my time at the academy, so for me I feel comfortable having other coaches and staff have a better overview of the game (from the stands), says the AIK coach.
Supports the new coaching staff
Goalkeeper Milla Magassari also believed the coaching style worked well – although the results didn’t want to go her way.
– I think it works. Jesper and Micke do a very good job on the dice and also in matches and Nebojsa is a safety item. for the leaders. For the team. He comes when needed and supports us in a good way.
In the case of Majasaari, the Company is liable for the Company’s use of adverse outcomes.
I feel it will happen on the men’s side and then it should happen on the women’s side. It’s equal and it’s a step forward in this thing. We’ve made small changes that I think work well. We create more positions. This is good. He’ll turn around if we keep playing this way.
