Färjestad provided the last piece of the puzzle among the outfield players in team building.
Defensive back Karl Dahlstrom returned to Sweden after seven seasons in North America.
– It seems that the team is built wisely with clear tasks and roles, says the 28-year-old defender.
He is a big, physical player that Färjestad brings in the last vacancy among the outfield players.
Support giant Karl Dahlström is 195 cm tall and weighs 104 kg.
– I’m going to take part in my game that brought me here, i.e. settle in the back. Defense is what got me to where I am today, Karl Dahlstrom says.
“Top back in the SHL”
Färjestad previously brought in more attacking full-backs Magnus Nygren from Davos and Jonathan Andersson from Luleå.
– We see Kale as a two-way defender and perhaps his greatest strength is in the defensive area. He has a very good skate for having such a huge body and he has a good grasp of the game which means he is good at playing outside his own zone. He has also accumulated a lot of experience in North America and we believe and hope that the great defender will return home to the SHL, says Athletic Director Rickard Wallen.
Those leaving on the backside are Theodor Linström, Phil Boca, Max Lindroth, Brandon Davidson, Anton Berglund and Jens Westen.
– With Callie on the team, we believe we have a backroom team that stands very well to be competitive. There is also a good balance between different qualities, such as our front side, says Rickard Wallen.
Lindbom open place
Two new attacking centers were brought in in the form of Joel Kellman from Växjö and Czech WC player Dominik Tomasek.
New to the team are striker Liam Ogren from Djurgården and goalkeeper Jonas Johansson from North America.
Goalkeepers Matt Tomkins and Dennis Hildeby and strikers Remy Elle, Daniel Wekstein, Jas Ikonen and Erik Engstrand will also leave.
The last player in the squad is expected to be goalkeeper Karl Lindbom from Djurgården.
It belongs to four NHL clubs
There is a slight question mark over when full-back Mikael Wikstrand can return after his knee surgery and that could open up another boost for the back.
Otherwise, the group consists of eight defenders and 14 outfield players with great competition for places.
In North America, Karl Dahlström belongs to the Chicago Blackhawks, Winnipeg Jets, Vegas Golden Knights and Toronto Maple Leafs.
In total, there have been 67 NHL matches, and this season he has returned from injury and played for the Toronto Marlies in the AHL.
In Sweden, he played three seasons in the SHL for Linköping before moving across the Atlantic.
The contract is being written with Färjestad for the next three seasons until the 2025/2026 season.
